EMDR therapy in Miami & virtually across Florida
Helping you heal, reconnect with yourself, and build a life that feels authentic to you.
Are you grieving the loss of a loved one, or still carrying the weight of a traumatic experience or life transition that changed everything? You don't have to keep navigating this pain and confusion alone. Together, we can help you process what happened and discover what you need to truly thrive, not just survive.
I specialize in human-centered EMDR and trauma-focused therapy for young adults healing from grief, trauma, and anxiety, available in person in Coral Gables, FL and virtually across Florida in English and Spanish.
Reviews
You've been carrying something heavy for a long time and keep putting yourself on the back burner in favor of everyone else.
Lately though, this weight is getting harder to live with. You're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or panic, judging yourself harshly, feeling disconnected, and wishing you could actually live according to what you want rather than what everyone else expects from you.
Or maybe you're at a breaking point: struggling to move forward after a devastating breakup, sitting with grief that feels insurmountable, or trying to find your footing through a transition that has really shaken your sense of self. You're exhausted from feeling ashamed, guilty, or judged for not being able to hold it all together the way you think you should, and are beginning to recognize that trying to push through alone just isn't working anymore.
Whatever brought you here, underneath it all, there's a question you keep returning to: Who am I, really? What actually matters to me?
If you're ready to explore that question with compassion, trust in your own intuition, and practical tools you can actually use, you're in the right place. I'm so glad you're here.
Meet Paola
Welcome! I'm Paola, a bilingual licensed mental health counselor, EMDR-trained therapist, and qualified clinical supervisor based in Coral Gables, FL. I specialize in trauma and grief therapy for young adults who are ready to process what's been keeping them stuck and begin their next chapter. I especially love working with college students, mental health interns, and Latine immigrants navigating trauma and finding their identity, and I offer sessions in both English and Spanish.
My path to this work began with a deep curiosity about the resilience of the human spirit and a desire to understand not just what has happened to us, but what we are truly capable of becoming on the other side of it. I earned my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Florida International University and trained in trauma-focused care at a trauma center, where I had the privilege of working with children, families, and adults navigating some of the hardest experiences of their lives.
Those years shaped everything about how I show up with my clients: with warmth, patience, and a deep belief that healing isn't something I provide for you. It's something we build together.
In session, you can expect me to get to know the whole you: what you love, what your inner child adored, what you're hoping for, and what you're ready to release. I see therapy as both an art and a science, which means I bring accessible, evidence-based tools drawn from EMDR, ACT, and trauma-focused CBT, while also weaving in music, art, mindfulness, and somatic awareness when the work calls for it.
My goal is always to meet you exactly where you are and to help you build the insight, self-compassion, and trust in yourself to eventually become your own guide.
Meet Wings To Fly Counseling
The name “Wings to Fly Counseling” isn't accidental.
Like the monarch butterfly, a symbol of transformation and for many, of the immigrant journey, this work is about helping you discover the wings you already have and empowering you to use them.
What We Can Work On Together
Grieving the loss of a loved one and not knowing how to move forward, or feeling like you should be over it by now but just aren't
Processing a breakup that didn't just break your heart but shook your sense of who you are and what you want
Anxiety or panic attacks that have started interfering with your daily life and feel impossible to get a handle on
A life transition such as immigrating to the US, starting college, changing careers, or leaving a relationship that has left you feeling unmoored and unsure of yourself
Feeling like you've spent your whole life living for other people's expectations and having no idea what you actually want for yourself or how to set boundaries and honor your own needs
Carrying trauma or PTSD that keeps showing up in your present, in your relationships, your body, and your patterns
Navigating the unique experience of being a first or second generation immigrant, including the cultural expectations, the identity questions, and the grief and complexity of feeling caught between two worlds
Struggling with shame, guilt, difficult emotions, or harsh self-judgment that makes it hard to offer yourself the same kindness and compassion you give to others
Feeling disconnected from your identity, like you've lost the thread of who you are, what you value, and what matters to you – and yearning to rebuild it with meaning and intention
My Areas of Speciality
What makes our work unique

I believe in the power of your story, not just the practical application of evidence-based tools such as EMDR and ACT. I take the time to get to know the full you and how your experiences have shaped you, not just the symptoms that brought you here, while also staying grounded in my training of what you may need to heal and move forward. At the end of the day, you are the expert on you; I'm here to help you find that wisdom. I love to incorporate a variety of methods ranging from music, art, and mindfulness to help you process your experience in the way that feels most natural to you, with the goal that you eventually have the tools and confidence to become your own guide.

For clients in the Coral Gables and Miami area, I offer the grounding and connection of a warm and welcoming in-person, physical space. For those across Florida, virtual sessions bring the same quality of care to wherever you feel most comfortable.
-
As a bilingual Latina therapist, I understand firsthand the cultural nuances, family expectations, and identity questions that so many of my clients carry. You won't have to translate or explain your experience here — in any sense of the word. Sessions are available in English and Spanish.

I believe quality therapy should be within reach. I accept insurance through several platforms including Headway, Grow Therapy, and Alma, and offer sliding scale spots starting at $75/session for those who qualify, as well as affordable individual and group supervision for mental health interns in Florida.
How To Get Started
Our work together in therapy is about more than helping you feel better in the moment. It's about you gaining the insight and tools to build a life that actually feels like yours for years to come.
Imagine:
Setting boundaries and saying no without the guilt that used to follow
Moving through grief or processing a painful experience without it swallowing you whole
Understanding your own patterns well enough to actually change them
Knowing what you want and need, separate from what everyone else expects of you
Feeling at home in your own identity, maybe for the first time
Trusting yourself to handle what life throws at you, with more confidence and less panic
Finding your wings to fly doesn't happen overnight, but it’s absolutely possible. I'll be right there with you, even as you stumble.
